The Omega Seamaster was launched in 1948, and is the oldest line in the current collection. Intended to serve as an elegant watch for town, sea, and country, it is easy to see why this watch has become such an icon among dive watches. It is also easy to see how such a watch could influence the designs found in our list of Omega Seamaster homages and alternatives.
Table of Contents
The Omega Seamaster Diver 300M is the watch famously worn by Pierce Brosnan’s James Bond in Golden Eye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The Wold is not Enough, and Die Another Day. The detonator pin and laser are not included in the civilian model. The Seamaster Planet Ocean and Seamaster Aqua Terra models have taken over as the staple James Bond Seamaster in the more recent movies starring Daniel Craig. However, the Seamaster Diver 300M remains a timeless classic.
Several design elements were considered when creating our list of Omega Seamaster homages and alternatives. These elements include the scalloped edge bezel, parallel sets of vertical bracelet links, wave/ripple effect on the dial, skeletonized hands, bezel font, and classic hour markings.
The Best Omega Seamaster Homages
Alpha Seamaster
The Alpha Seamaster is the best Omega Seamaster homage. It creates a visually identical timepiece apart from the Alpha logo. The dial is ceramic and includes the wave/ripple effect seen on the Omega Seamaster Professional. Alpha also produces an Omega Seamaster Chronograph homage.
The stainless steel case is 47mm and is water resistant to 50m (165ft). The Alpha features a Seagull automatic movement.
Rotary Aquaspeed
The Rotary Aquaspeed series is an homage to the Omega Seamaster. The Aquaspeed is also available in chronograph variations. The Aquaspeed features a scalloped edge bezel and skeleton hands just like the Seamaster. The pushers, crown, hour markings and bezel markings are also identical. The only major difference visually would be the arrangement of the subdials.
The movement is quartz. The stainless steel case is 36mm and water resistant to 50m (165ft).
Stuhrling Aquadiver 664
The Stuhrling Aquadiver 664 has a 12 o’clock hour marker and hands that make it passable Rolex Submariner homage, but the scalloped edge bezel and curved lugs also make it an excellent Omega Seamaster homage.
The stainless steel case is 39mm and water resistant to 200m (660ft). The movement is Japanese quartz.
Invicta Grand Diver
The Invicta Grand Diver series features a scalloped edge bezel and similar hour and bezel markings. It features a Japanese automatic movement.
The stainless steel case is 47mm, has an exhibition back, and is water resistant to 300m (1000ft), just like the Omega Seamaster Professional.
Liber Aedon LA3703/1
The Liber Aedon LA3703/1 watch is an Omega Seamaster lookalike. They feature a simplified dial, bezel, and a basic bracelet. The available colors are black and blue.
The stainless steel case is 41mm and water resistant to 100m (330ft). The LA3703/1 uses a Japanese quartz movement.
The Best Omega Seamaster Alternatives
Orient Mako XL
The Orient Mako XL provides the most color options for an Omega Seamaster alternative. Some of the colors available are white, blue, black, orange, and green. The Orient Mako XL is one of the best Orient watches and features an Orient’s own in-house self winding automatic movement. The stainless steel case is 44.5mm and water resistant to 200m (660ft).
Bulova Marine Star
The Bulova Marine Star 96B series also has several Omega Seamaster alternatives. The Marine Star 96B256 has similar subdials, crown, pushers, and hands to the Seamaster. It also features an excellent deep blue dial and bezel color.
The stainless steel bracelet also has grooves along the center link which create a similar look to the Seamaster’s parallel sets of vertical links. Overall the Marine Star is unique enough to stand on its own.
The stainless steel case is 43mm and water resistant to 100m (330ft). The movement is quartz.
Christopher Ward Trident
The Christopher Ward Trident series is a perfect Omega Seamaster alternative. It has enough similarities, such as the wave/ripple texture dial, hour markings, and the dial information text, that it could also be considered an Omega Seamaster homage. The bezel is a large difference between the Trident and the Seamaster, as are the unique hands. The second hand features a trident on the back side, and the hour hand is a skeletonized tear shape.
The Trident series is available in both quartz and automatic movements. The stainless steel case comes in a two sizes and different water resistance depths.
Certina DS Action Diver
The Certina DS Action Diver comes in both standard and chronograph styles making it a great, Swiss-made Omega Seamaster homage alternative. The bezel has similar markings but does not have a scalloped edge, though it is still visually similar. The hands are skeletonized and the crown and chronograph pushers are identical.
The DS Action Diver is available in green, blue, black, and grey dials. It uses a quartz movement. The stainless steel case is 41mm and water resistant to 300m (1000 ft).
